What the day entails…

For Juniors to 1st class

Introduction talk on gardens as a habitat and their importance to us.  Followed by an exploration of the current garden / or potential garden sight.  Examination of living things already in place.  Finding a favourite place activity.  Planting session.

For 2nd – 6th class

Introduction talk on gardens as a habitat and their importance to us.  Followed by an exploration of the current garden / or potential garden sight.  Examination of living things already in place.  Planning session of the future garden, what the school would like to have e.g. vegetables, pollinating plants, nature trail, butterfly garden etc.  Planting session in the garden with pre discussed vegetation.

What the teacher needs to do…

Prior discussions on habitats, man-made and natural.  Exploration of what plants and animals live in a garden.  Planning what type of garden you want, what you hope to achieve with your future garden.  (We can help you with this).
